Communicable Disease Control:
Surveillance and investigation of reportable diseases. May
include screening and/or treatment.
Health Education/Promotion:
Educational opportunities provided to the general public and local
agencies on health related issues. Topics include, but are not
limited to, smoking cessation, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.
HIV/AIDS - Screening and Counseling:
Confidential testing, education and counseling at no cost.
Appointment is necessary. Available Monday-Fridays 8:30am -
4:30pm.
Hypertension Screening:
Blood pressure screening, counseling and referral. Walk-in
clinic Fridays 8:30am - 4:30pm. Other days by appointment.
Interpreter Services:
Confidential interpretation services available for health department
programs by staff and phone service.
Emergency Preparedness:
Coordination and development of county emergency operations plans and
response to public health emergencies.
Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD):
Confidential testing, diagnosis and treatment is available free of
charge. No appointment is required. Available
Monday-Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm.
Tuberculosis (TB) Control:
Skin tests are offered walk-in clinic every Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm.
Other days by appointment. $10 charge
Vital Records:
Deputy Registrar processes certificates and maintains evidence of all
births and deaths occuring in Transylvania County. (Certified copies of birth and death
certificates must be obtained only through the Register of Deeds office
for a fee.)
